CEBU, Philippines - A man who has a standing warrant of arrest for rape was found dead with gunshot wounds past 5 p.m. on Sunday in Barangay Agbalanga, Moalboal town.
Reynaldo Asister, in his late 20s, was found in the middle of a cornfield bathed in his own blood with gunshot wounds to his head and chest.
Residents near the area heard the bursts of gunfire.
Barangay Agbalanga councilwoman Terencia Guzman informed her husband, Marshal Guzman, who in turn reported the incident to the police.
The police immediately responded to the alarm and rushed Asister to the Badian District Hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.
Responding police officers found out that the victim has a standing warrant of arrest for rape issued in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
In fact, Police Offi-cer 2 Peter Paul Tangpos said a few months ago, Carmen Police Station in Bohol informed them to keep an eye on Asister, in case he goes to Moalboal.
Further, Tangpos said the witnesses saw three persons fleeing away from the cornfield and boarded a motorcycle. However, the faces of the three men were not recognized.
Woman found dead
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old woman was found dead inside the house of her live-in-partner around 8 a.m. Sunday in Barangay Pugalo, Alcoy town.
Angelie Lañojan, native of Consolacion town, was found dead with a gunshot wound to her face early morning on Sunday.
Police Officer 2 Erland Salonoy, desk officer of Alcoy Police Station, said Lañojan might have been killed by an unidentified perpetrator while she was asleep.
The police recovered an empty shell of a caliber .45 pistol inside the room but witnesses did not hear any gunfire.
Lañojan was the live-in partner of a suspected drug pusher, Gullas Jumamil, who was recently arrested. (FREEMAN)
