CEBU, Philippines - The Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor has indicted a 61-year-old man who allegedly tried to kill his neighbor.
Assistant City Prosecutor Aida Sanchez held Pedro Gabaylo, a resident of White Road, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City, for trial for frustrated homicide.
“…said accused, armed with a knife, with deli-berate intent, with intent to kill, did then and there attack and assault, Ronald Campaner, by stabbing him and slashing his neck with the use of said knife, thereby inflicting upon him physical injuries which under ordinary circumstance would cause the death of the said Campaner,” Sanchez stated.
During the inquest proceeding, Gabaylo chose not to file a counter-affidavit to negate the allegations filed against him. Instead, he manifested to face the charges in court.
Sanchez recommended P24,000 bail for Gabaylo’s temporary liberty.
Police Officer 3 Ricardo Meija stated that while he was on duty at the Pardo Police Station, Gabaylo appeared and voluntary surrendered. According to Meija’s statement, Gabaylo informed him that he just stabbed and slashed the neck of Campaner, who was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center.
Meija added that Gabaylo also submitted the knife with blood stains, which he used in stabbing Campaner. — (FREEMAN)
