CEBU, Philippines - A heated argument over drugs between a couple resulted into a shooting incident that left a man injured yesterday morning in Barangay Kinasang-an, Cebu City.

Lamberto Navarro, 45, was allegedly shot in the mouth by his live-in partner, Genevieve Lim, 30.

Senior Police Officer Rommel Bancog, homicide section investigator at the Cebu City Police Office, said that Lim allegedly asked for money from Navarro to buy shabu but Navarro refused, which resulted to a heated argument.

Lim then pulled out a caliber 38 revolver and shot Navarro, hitting him in the right side of his mouth. Lim immediately left after the incident.

“Maka storya paman og tarong ang biktima pero mao lage di ma klaro kay mag sige siya og luwa,” Bancog added.

Bancog added that the couple has been using illegal drugs for quite some time now.

Navarro was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center and was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto  Memorial Medical Center.

Navarro has reportedly decided not to press charges against his live-in partner.

Meanwhile, a woman was hit by a stray bullet in Sitio Puntod, Barangay Alaska Mambaling, Cebu City.

Elizabeth Mondaya, 30, was on her way to the market with her three-year-old son, when she heard gunfire. She then felt numb and later found out that she was hit in her left buttocks.

Mondaya then shouted and asked assistance from pedicab drivers.

Jezreel Oba-ob, Mondaya’s live-in partner, immediately rushed the victim to the CCMC for treatment.

Senior Police Officer Bancog said they are still conducting investigation into the incident. — Jan Michael T. Lumayag, USJ-R Intern/ATO (FREEMAN)
