Orphan girl to live with grandparents
CEBU, Philippines - Following the traumatic experience of a five-year-old girl who witnessed how her parents were murdered by still unidentified robbers in Cordova, the immediate family of the child has decided to bring her to Clarin, Bohol.
Leanna Tampus, whose parents, Elisa and Ranillo Tampus, were robbed and killed in Barangay Day-as, Cordova Sunday evening, will be brought by her grandparents to Barangay Bogtongbod, Clarin, Bohol where her mother grew up.
Karen, 19, Leanna’s aunt, said they will also bring home her sister’s remains. Karen said Elisa will be buried in Clarin while her husband will be left in Cordova where he also grew up.
“Ang haya ron naa sa Barangay Calan dinhi sa Cordova. Sa Bohol namo i-uli ang akong ate, didto namo siya tiwason og haya ug didto pud namo siya ilubong. Amoang dad-on si Leanna,” she said.
Karen and several of their relatives yesterday gathered at the Cordova Police Station to attend to the needs of the child.
“Didto nami sa Bohol. Dili na gusto akong papa mopuyo didto human sa nahitabo,” Karen said.
Karen said they were also advised by the Department of Social Welfare and Development to let the child undergo a stress debriefing.
Karen said their family could not accept what had happened to her older sister and her husband.
“Dili pa ko kadawat, sakit kaayo ang nahitabo sa akong ate. Mayta gyud madakpan to silang duha,” she said
Karen suspects that the culprits were their two male neighbors who disappeared after the incident. The victims were on their way to Barangay Apas in Cebu City on board their motorcycle together with their daughter when the two unidentified robbers blocked their way in Barangay Day-as, Cordova.
The culprits shot the couple dead in front of their daughter before fleeing with the victims’ motorcycle and backpack containing a huge amount of money.
“Posible sad gyud nga katung duha ka lalaki nga among silingan maoy mga suspect kay wala naman gud sila didto sa ilahang balay,” she said. — (FREEMAN)
