CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecasted a hot weekend in time for the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

PAGASA Mactan chief meteorologist Al Quiblat said that the public can expect a hot Sunday on November 1 with 40 percent chance of rain in the afternoon or in the evening based on their weather forecast.

The weather bureau has forecasted stronger northeast monsoon or Amihan in the next seven days and sunny days for the next five days.

Meanwhile, Department of Health-7 director Jaime Bernadas has advised the public to prioritize their health conditions when visiting their departed loved ones in the cemeteries.

“Very important and critical ang panahon sa Kalag-Kalag. Mao man gayud ang atong kinaiya nga didto sa mga memorial parks ug cemeteries magpuyo tibuok adlaw. Ang uban mangatulog pa didto,” he said.

Bernadas reminded the people, particularly the elders and the children, to avoid prolonged exposure from the sun which might cause heat stroke and to bring protective gears from the heat such as umbrellas.

He said the public should always keep themselves hydrated by bringing along with them water.

“Atong awhagon atong mga kaigsuonan katong may edad na ug mga kabatan-onan kon mahimo lang di na ipapuyo sa memorial parks. Kon di gane malikayan, atimanon ang ilang pagkaon ug tubig,” he said.

Bernadas has encouraged city health officers and sanitary inspectors to check if the vendors selling food and drinks in the cemeteries were given the certificate of food handling seminar to ensure clean and safe food for the consuming public.   (FREEMAN)
