CEBU, Philippines - An estimated 10,000 supporters of the United Nationalist Alliance are expected to converge in Cebu today for the Visayas-wide launching and oathtaking ceremony of its new members.
In an interview last night, Senator Nancy Binay said that her father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, who is eyeing the presidency, will be leading the event.
Senator Binay said that she is not sure if former Senator Gringo Honasan, whom her father is eyeing to be his running mate, will join the event.
Just this week, the selection committee of UNA announced that it has chosen Honasan as Binay’s running mate. Honasan said though that he still needs time to decide.
Senator Binay said she heard that Honasan already has a prior commitment with the “Guardians.”
“Pero hindi natin alam baka darating siya,” Senator Binay said.
Sheila Uy, Cebu liason officer of Vice President Binay, said that actress and Parañaque City Councilor Alma Moreno and Sulu Princess Jacel Kiram, possible senatorial candidates under UNA, are expected to attend.
Uy said that other UNA local candidates in Visayas will also be around to give their support. (FREEMAN)
