Former radtech arrested in shabu sniffing session

Ma. Fatima R. Secuya - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – A former radiology technician was arrested after he was allegedly caught in the act of sniffing shabu with other men inside his house in Sitio Poblacion, Barangay Pardo, Cebu City Sunday morning.

Wendell Caballero, 42, a former radtech of Camotes District Hospital was detained at the Cebu City Police Office when he was apprehended by operatives of the Cebu City Intelligence Branch that raided his residence.

Police Officer 1 Amormio Dichos of the CIB said Caballero’s wife is reportedly a doctor in the same hospital.

Dichos said at around 11:30 a.m. last Sunday, their office received a phone call through a concerned citizen informing them that there was a group of people who were having a “shabu session” in the area.

He said upon verification, they responded to the alarm and rushed to the place.  Dichos said when they were near the reported area, they saw a house with the door half-open and in plain view, saw several people inside in the act of sniffing suspected shabu.

However, he said the people having the “shabu session” noticed the presence of the police operatives and scampered to different directions.

Dichos said they tried to chase the drug users but failed to do so because there were a number of narrow pathways in the area.

All of the other men were able to escape except for Caballero who was cornered by the policemen. The cops confiscated several illegal drug paraphernalia from the Caballero’s possession.

“Sayang lang kay maayo unta siya og trabaho sauna ug iyang asawa, doctor unya mapunta lang didto,” said Dichos. Caballero will be facing charges for possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
