CEBU, Philippines - Cebu-based journalism startup InnoPub Media, wireless services leader SMART Communications, Inc., and PLDT are holding another New Media Meetup on Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the multi-purpose room in PLDT-Jones located on Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.
The New Media Meetup, first held in last year’s Cebu Press Freedom Week, gathers journalists, bloggers, writers, photographers for an informal and hands-on discussion on a wide range of new media topics from writing to tech.
This year, veteran photojournalist Vic Kintanar will discuss how to use mobile phones for news coverage and photojournalism. Sun.Star Cebu editor-in-chief Isolde D. Amante will discuss sharp writing by starting your articles strong. InnoPub Media co-founder Max Limpag will lead a hands-on session on basic HTML/CSS literacy and the use of Markdown to simplify coding and formatting of articles for digital publication.
The meetup is also supported by the Visayan Electric Company (VECO).
The New Media Meetup is open to journalists, bloggers, students, teachers and other information workers. To join, however, participants need to sign up ahead using an online form that can be accessed at www.facebook.com/InnoPub/ or by sending an email to max@limpag.com.
