CEBU, Philippines- Some residents of Cebu City and Mandaue City lost electricity at past 2 p.m. yesterday after a line of the Visayan Electric Company tripped during a heavy downpour.
In a statement, VECO said Line 1 auto-tripped at 2:04pm affecting feeders LRG311, LRG312, LRG321 and LRG322.
VECO said all four feeders were restored at 2:06p.m.
The cause of the incident is being verified, VECO said.
The LRG311 feeder covers Lorega San Miguel, Zapatera, Cogon Ramos, Camputhaw, Hipodromo, Capitol, Gorordo Ave, J .Osmena St., Osmena Blvd., Queens Road, A. Villalon Drive, Cardinal Rosales Ave. Fooda, Redemptorist Church, Perpetual Succor Hospital, Cebu Capitol Commercial Complex, and Royal Concourse.
The LRG312 feeder covers Zapatera, Day-as, Cogon Ramos, Gen. Maxilom Ave., D. Jakosalem St., Osmeña Blvd., Casino Espanool Cebu, Archbishop Place and Sacred Heart Church.
The LRG321 feeder covers Lorega San Miguel, Day-as, Kamagayan, Parian, T. Padilla, San Antonio P. del Rosario St., Imus Road and Junquera St.
The LRG322 feeder covers Carreta, Hipodromo, Tejero, Mabolo General Maxilom Ave., Hipodromo Oval., M.J. Cuenco Ave., Mactan Road, Carreta Elem. School, Persimmon, Mabolo Elem. School and Mabolo Parish.
Aside from the four, another feeder, MDW311, auto-tripped at 2:16p.m.due to a busted pin insulator. It was restored at 2:41p.m.
MDW311 covers Tipolo, Subangdaku (Mandaue); Mabolo (Cebu City) Lopez Jaena, MC Briones and C.D. Seno Street.
VECO said a portion of MDW311 restored at 3:14p.m., from Parkmall going to Mandaue City proper.
Meanwhile, the following feeders experienced fluctuations – MRA313 at 2:22p.m., KBL313 at 2:28p.m. and LRG322 at 2:30p.m.
The MRA313 feeder covers Looc, Bakilid, Ibabao, Centro, Ibabao, Estancia, Opao, Paknaan, Umapad, Alang-Alang, Guizo, and Cambaroin Mandaue City and Ouano Avenue, Plaridel Street, P. Burgos Street in Cebu Citywhile KBL313 covers Baniladin Cebu City and Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue.
Lightning death
As this was happening, a fisherman who was fixing his things in his boat in Barangay Maya, Daanbantayan town died after he was struck by lightning at past 3 p.m.
Vinancio Pepito, of Barangay Poblacion, Daanbantayan town, was declared dead on arrival at the Daanbantayan District Hospital where he was rushed by a fellow fisherman.
PO3 Victor Avenido, desk officer of Daanbanatayan Police, confirmed the information and said they received the report at past 3 p.m. (FREEMAN)
