PRO-7 celebrates Women’s Month with pageant

CEBU, Philippines - In line with the celebration of Women’s Month, the Police Regional Office-7 will be staging the second year of the “PRO-7 Police Fashionista” where policewomen from different units in the region will showcase their beauty and talent.

Police Inspector Arieza Otida, chief of the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Cebu City Police Office, said the activity will only prove that policewomen can also be models in terms of beauty and talent.

“Looking at the other side sa atong mga policewomen, ipakita nato nga daghan pu’ng gwapa nga mga police officers nato,” said Otida.

This year, the pageant will include the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community members who will be partners of the lady police officers.

“Last year, solely females lang gyud siya but I suggested nga much better siguro if tagaan pud nato og importansiya kinin’g mga LGBTs nato especially right now nga accepted na sila sa society nato,” added Otida.

There will be gown competition and formal wear category for the LGBTs.

Police Fashionista contestants will also showcase different uniforms of the police officers.

The winners of the competition will take home cash prizes, a trophy and a crown.

Police Fashionista 2015 will take place on March 18, at 6 p.m. at the PRO-7 grounds. — Ma. Fatima R. Secuya/ATO\ (FREEMAN)
