Aurora’s 5th most wanted arrested in Mandaue

Grace Melanie L. Lacamiento - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - After more than two years of hiding, the fifth most wanted in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur fell into the hands of authorities during a coordinated operation in Mandaue City last Tuesday afternoon.

Ramil Durangparang, 39, was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Cebu province in coordination with personnel of the municipal police station of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

The warrant of arrest against him was issued by Regional Trial Court  Branch 9 Judge Jaime Caberte last August 7, 2012. He is facing charges for violation of Section 5 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Republic Act 8294 or the comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition.

A bail of P80,000 was recommended for the firearms case but he cannot post bail for the drugs case.

Durangparang was living with his partner at Eusebio Compound, Barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City where he was arrested.

CIDG-7 chief, Senior Superintendent Ritchie Posadas, said they received information that Durangparang was hiding in Mandaue City so he created a team led by Chief Inspector Rene Kyamko to verify the information.

Surveillance for a week eventually led the policemen to the house in Eusebio Compound.

They also learned that Durangparang did not have a permanent job in Cebu.

Durangparang’s live-in partner who requested not to be named said she had no knowledge about the charges against her lover. She said they have been together for a year now and she learned about the warrant against him only last Tuesday.

“Nitrabaho man na siya sa manokan. Siya maglawog sa mga manok sa iyang amo,” she said.

Durangparang denied the allegations but refused further comment. He will be brought to Zamboanga del Sure to face the charges.

Posadas said they will investigate if Durangparang was involved in the illegal drugs trade in Mandaue City.

Posadas commended Kyamko’s team for the successful arrest and expressed gratitude to the community for cooperating in the investigation.

He said some of the most wanted personalities in the country seem to believe that Cebu, being a large community, would be able to hide them from authorities.

“Ari sila diri because of the prevailing peace and order diri sa Cebu. Dako pud ang Cebu. They would just live simple lives,” Posadas said. — (FREEMAN)
