Private companies extend aid to families of fallen SAF

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A day after the burial of the three Special Action Force commandos from the region, non-government organizations also extended financial assistance to the families of the fallen heroes  during the flag-raising ceremony yesterday at the Police Regional Office-7.

Doctor Christine Cempron, PO1 Romeo Cempron’s widow; Michelle Candano, widow of PO1 Windel Candano; and Brenda Remorosa, the aunt of Irene Guialon, PO3 Junrel Kibete’s live-in-partner received P97,000 aid each.

Nimrod Quiñones, general manager of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, Nelson Yuvallos of Cebu Country Club, and Prudencio Gesta, Regional Advisory Council chairman, turned over the assistance from their respective companies.

In his speech, PRO-7 Director Chief Superintendent Prudencio Tom Bañas expressed his gratitude to the public for the assistance extended to the families of the commandos.

He said that although the wound is still fresh and no words can ease the pain, life has to go on.

“They served and sacrificed for a purpose far greater more than themselves, and indeed they have fit in the true essence of a hero… and that is why their ultimate sacrifice means so much,” Bañas said.

He thanked the partners of the slain SAF commandos for sharing their loved ones to the country.

He said that after the two of the 44 brave SAF heroes were laid to rest, their memories will be in the hearts of the people.

Doctor Cempron, in an interview with the media, said that she is thankful to the public for their support and sympathy.

Candano’s widow, also expressed gratitude and said that she wants to become part of the Philippine National Police after the death of her husband.  (FREEMAN)
