Man arrested for posting girl’s nude photos online

CEBU, Philippines - A resident of Barangay Parian, Cebu City was arrested for allegedly uploading se-veral nude photos of a 17-year-old girl on Facebook.

Jimmy Lao, 35, married, a native of Danao City, was arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by the Parian police.

The operation was hatched after the girl’s mother complained last Thursday that Lao had created a fictitious account on Facebook where he allegedly uploaded nude photos of her daughter.

Police Officer 1 Ivy Omayao of the Women and Children Protection Desk said Lao and the girl used to be neighbors in Barangay Lorega San Miguel, Cebu City and they eventually became acquaintances.

Investigation revealed that Lao gave the girl mo-ney reportedly after a one night stand last November.

“Sige pa siya og contact sa biktima after atong higa-yona. Dihang di na mosugot ang bata, iya dayon ni gi-blockmail. Pun-an pa daw niya ang iya mga gipang-post sa FB kung di mosugot nga makigkita niya,” Omayao said.

After the mother complained, the police advised that she and daughter ride on Lao’s demands. Police eventually arrested Lao at a lodge in downtown Cebu City.

Omayao said the girl was aware that Lao had nude pictures of her when they were together last year.

“Nagpadayon man gihapon siya og eskuwela pero bothered na siya pagkatag sa iyang mga pictures sa FB. Daghan na pud sa iyang mga amiga ang nakakita,” Omayao said.

Lao did not admit categorically that he uploaded the photos.

“Nihangyo man siya nako og P1000. Unya kana akong mga cellphone, tulo kabuok, bisa’g asa ra man na nako ipamutang,” he said.

Omayao said the print-out of the photos will be used as evidence against Lao. He will be facing charges for violating the anti-child abuse law.  — Xenia Maureen Arda, USJ-R MassComm Intern/JMO (FREEMAN)
