Talamban health center gets P12M from PhilHealth

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. has turned over P12 million to Talamban Health Center intended for the per-family payment of their office to the said health center.

The Talamban Health Center, a provider of the Primary Care Benefit 1 package to some financially challenged families sponsored by the Cebu City government, already received two checks amounting to P18,421,500 and another P12,337,854 for the PFP.

Mayor Michael Rama said these were part of THC’s share from PhilHealth after the city applied to become a PCB provider.

PCB 1 is PhilHealth’s out-patient preventive and diagnostic package for sponsored members available at accredited health centers and providers.

The PCB 1 pack includes the following three main provisions: a primary preventive services, diagnostic examinations and drugs and medicines for certain diseases.

Under PhilHealth Circular No. 10 of 2012, 80 percent of the PFP will go to the PCB providers or health facilities while the 20 percent shall be exclusively used for the honoraria of the health personnel, non-health personnel, and volunteer heath workers.

The PFP is released after 30 calendar days from receipt of the complete documents from the PCB provider.

Payment is made on a quarterly basis upon submission of the required supporting documents.

It is further stipulated in the circular that non-compliance and late submission of the required documents will affect the promptness or delay of the PFP.

The program is in support of the health agenda of President Benigno Aquino III, known as Kalusugan Pangkalahatan, which aims to provide universal health care for all Filipinos.

PhilHealth turned over P9.4 million to Talamban Health Center last September 2013, which happened to be the only accredited PCB provider in the city that time.

As of 2014, there are already four accredited PCB providers in Cebu City, including THC, Guadalupe Health Center, Mabolo Health Center and Carreta Health Center.   (FREEMAN)
