CEBU, Philippines - Sinulog traffic is not over yet. This, as two barangays in Cebu City will hold their own version of Sinulog parade today.
Motorists and public utility vehicles plying Barangays Mambaling and Basak Pardo should expect heavy traffic today starting 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Cebu City Traffic Operations Management operations head Jonathan Tumulak advised motorists and commuters to leave early so that they will not be affected by the heavy traffic.
For Barangay Mambaling, Sinulog parade will affect areas under the Mambaling fly-over, C. Padilla Street, Spolarium Street, Duljo Fatima, and Mambaling trunk road leading to South Road Properties. Tumulak said that the Mambaling flyover is open for vehicle traffic.
For Basak Pardo, the parade will affect F. Llamas Street, N. Bacalso Avenue, Bamboo Village, Sabellano Street, and Macopa Street. The parade will end at the Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School grounds.
Tumulak said that one lane of the south road will be used for two-way traffic to minimize congestion.
“Ang one lane para sa ilang Sinulog parade ang pikas para sa atong motorists and commuters,” he said.
He said that closed roads will be open to traffic once the parade will pass through a certain street. Tumulak said that public utility jeepneys plying to and from the downtown area via C. Padilla Street and N. Bacalso Avenue are expected to be affected.
SRP will be closed to traffic. So, Tumulak advised motorists from the south to take the Inayawan access road instead of going to SRP.
He advised motorists from the north that wished to pass SRP to use D. Jakosalem Street, near the City Hall, in going to SRP. Tumulak said that traffic enforcers will be deployed. There were also traffic signs installed in affected areas.
“Pwede ra gyod motan-aw atong mga motorists sa signs, and naa pud atong enforcers para sa rerouting,” he said. —FPL (FREEMAN)
