CEBU, Philippines - A 31-year-old man shot himself and left his 28-year-old live-in partner injured at Sitio Pantao, Barangay Carnaza, Daanbantayan, Cebu Thursday afternoon.
Raymond Tora, 31, died on the spot after he sustained a gunshot wound to his head while his live-in-partner, Flordy Arriesgado, suffered from a gunshot wound to her right waist and was immediately brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Police Officer 3 Alex Ricarte, desk officer of Daanbantayan Police Station, said that based on initial investigation, Tora was having a drinking session with his two friends, Jovannie Arriesgado, 31 and Rejie Lastibada, 29, prior the incident.
Flordy was sitting on a bamboo bench beside Tora while breastfeeding their child.
Ricarte said that Tora and Flordy were suddenly engaged in a heated argument. Based on the testimonies of Tora’s friends, they heard Tora said “para mausa ang problema” followed by a gunshot.
They reportedly saw Tora lying on the floor holding a .38 caliber revolver.
Flordy also shouted for help saying she was also shot.
The police recovered the .38 caliber revolver, one empty shell and two live rounds from the crime scene. — Grace Melanie I. Lacamiento/ATO (FREEMAN)
