CEBU, Philippines - A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two men near a beach in Barangay Magay, Compostela early Saturday morning.
The victim, whose name is being withheld considering the nature of the case, is a native of Mindanao and works as a cook at a food store in the nearby Danao City.
According to Police Officer 3 Arni Goc-ong of Compostela Police Station, the victim went out of the store at around 3 a.m. to supposedly buy ingredients.
She hailed a tricycle and asked the driver to be taken to Barangay Looc.
The tricycle proceeded but before it exited the market, a man got on the tricycle and suddenly covered the victim’s face with a shirt.
The two men then allegedly brought the victim to the nearby Barangay Magay and raped her near the beach.
Although very weak, the victim heard the two men mentioned to take her back to Taytay in Danao City to kill her.
She was taken inside the tricycle and was heading towards Taytay when she managed to untie herself near a school in Barangay Tuburan.
She jumped off and asked for help from an employee of Cebu Mitsumi, Inc. who was standing on the road. The suspects sped off from the area.
The victim was brought to the Pink Room of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for examination and reported the incident to the police at around noon.
The police are now conducting follow-up investigation into the incident and will collect footages possibly captured by closed circuit television cameras installed at the market’s premises.
(FREEMAN)
