CEBU, Philippines -  A 20-year-old market vendor was arrested for alleged unruly behavior after policemen confiscated her goods at the old Minglanilla Public Market on Friday.

Glorimyr Fernandez, a resident of Lower Calajo-an, Minglanilla, was apprehended by the police for direct assault, resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority, and unjust vexation.

Personnel of Minglanilla Police Station, who are also members of the market task force created by the municipal government, cleared the old public market of goods that were allegedly being sold illegally by vendors including Fernandez.

Following the operation, Fernandez proceeded to the police station and allegedly scolded the police there.

Police Officer 3 Eduardo Librando, who was at the station supervising the police report on the incident, introduced himself to Fernandez and tried to pacify her.

However, the vendor reportedly refused to be pacified and even shouted at Librando, “Dako ka’g tiyan! Buang ka! Mga buang mong mga taga-task force!”

She also allegedly kicked Librando on his right knee, hence the arrest.

Fernandez denied hurting the policeman and even claimed that she was the one hurt after being forced to be detained.

She said she went to the police station in order to be clarified on why her flowers were also confiscated when she was about to keep her products.

Fernandez’ statements were supported by her mother, Estrella, who defended that her daughter could not be rude since she is an educated woman.

Librando said they will pursue filing charges against Fernandez because they have witnesses who could testify on her alleged unruly behavior.  (FREEMAN)
