TRS cop loses gun to thief

Janice Marsada - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A Cebu City policeman assigned at the Theft and Robbery Section lost his service firearm to an unknown thief in Barangay Kamputhaw Monday evening.

Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Romano Jr., 31, resident of Barangay Guba, Cebu City, left his 9mm Gloc 17 pistol inside his Mitsubishi Pajero parked at the Citi Parking Services in Ayala Business Park.

The unidentified thief broke the right quarter window of Romano’s vehicle to open it and took the policeman’s service firearm kept inside the car’s glove compartment.

TRS chief, Chief Inspector David Señor, said they are looking at the possibility that one of the local boys is responsible for it. Señor said they have already chec ked some areas where the firearm may have been sold.

Señor said that Romano could face administrative investigation because the firearm was issued to him by the government.

“Kinahanglan niya i-prove nga dili negligence ang nahitabo kay aron di siya mapasakaa’g kasong administratiba,” Señor said.

The policeman will also be asked to pay for the cost of the lost firearm.— (FREEMAN)
