CEBU, Philippines - Three people were arrested yesterday during a raid conducted by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
The suspects were identified as Emiliano Roa, 44; Harry Llurin, 40; and Bernie Sungcol, 29. The CIDG-7 operatives confiscated several packs of shabu, drug paraphernalia, and a caliber .45 pistol from the suspects.
The police raided Roa’s rented apartment by virtue of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Soliver Peras for illegal possession of firearms.
CIDG-7 deputy director Superintendent Fermin Armendarez III said that Roa has been reported to be bringing unlicensed firearms prompting them to apply for a search warrant.
Armendarez said that based on their information the suspect owns a caliber .45 pistol and an Ingram machine pistol. During yesterday’s raid, the police chanced upon the two other suspects allegedly sniffing drugs inside Roa’s apartment.
Armendarez said they are now checking information that the suspects are also involved in carnapping. Roa, however, denied his any involvement in carnapping but admitted to selling illegal drugs.
Roa will be facing criminal complaints for violation of the Comprehensive Law on Weapons and Ammunitions and possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia.
Llurin and Sungcol will be charged with possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. — (FREEMAN)
