Three men shot dead in Cebu City, Talisay

CEBU, Philippines -  At least three men including a security guard died after they were shot in separate incidents in Cebu City and Talisay City on Tuesday.

In Barangay Quiot, Loreto Tabañag, a security guard employed under Philosa Agency, died immediately after he was shot by his neighbor Calexto Tejares.

Investigation showed that the victim, a resident of the place, was walking along the road with his neighbor, Everlita Hollero, at 8:30 a.m. talking about a lot for sale.

Tejares reportedly appeared from behind and shot the victim in the head.

The suspect then fled away while Hollero asked for help and brought the victim to Cebu City Medical Center. The victim was declared dead upon arrival.

Further police investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim had a grudge. The victim even filed a complaint against the suspect before the barangay.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Paril, Erwin Ayag, 33, was shot dead allegedly by Jerry Arnoco, 44, for failing to pay the suspect the exact amount of an air gun rifle.

Ayag died immediately due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Based on the investigation, Arnoco got mad at Ayag because the latter only paid him P500 for the air gun rifle he bought from him.  Arnoco claimed Ayag still lack P8,000.

During the heated argument, Arnoco allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim several time.

The suspect immediately fled leaving the victim lying on the ground lifeless.

Police recovered from the crime scene six empty shells of a cal. 45 pistol and four deformed slugs.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified men on Abarques Street, Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City Tuesday evening.

Jaymar Dejamo, resident of Minglanilla, Cebu, was reportedly walking alone when assailants onboard a motorcycle appeared from behind and fired at him.

Dejamo was declared dead on arrival at Talisay District Hospital after sustaining three gunshot wounds in his right chest, right temple and back portion of his right ear.

Police Officer 3 Oliver Ortega of Talisay City Police told The FREEMAN that bystanders along the area heard a series of gunfire around 9:30 p.m.

“Ngitngit man gud to nga area ug mga bystanders ra atong dapita ang nakadungog nga naa’y nagpabuto og pusil (The area was dark. Only bystanders heard the gun bursts),” said Ortega.

The police are now conducting a follow-up operation to determine the culprits’ identities and the possible motive behind the shooting. (FREEMAN)
