Liloan mom has son, 14, jailed after catching him with drugs
CEBU, Philippines - A mother had her 14-year-old son jailed after she caught him with two big plastic packs of dried marijuana leaves in Barangay Poblacion, Liloan, Cebu Thursday afternoon.
Police Officer 1 Eden Pepito of Liloan Police Station said the mother went to their station to report that she saw her son bringing illegal drugs.
“Nasakpan man ang bata sa iyang inahan nga gadala-dala og marijuana. Gisulod man daw niya ang uban sa sudlanan sa sigarilyo,” he said.
Pepito, though, could not give further details, saying his colleagues were still conducting follow up operations and that the case is still being looked into by their Women’s and Children’s Section.
The minor is currently under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Other anti-drug operations also led to the arrest of five persons and the seizure of seven small packs and a big pack of suspected shabu the same day.
Benedicto “Kolkol” Hortezuela was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Cadaruhan, Borbon, Cebu Thursday morning.
He yielded three small packs and one large pack of suspected shabu, three disposable lighters, one improvised tooter, and the P500 buy-bust money.
Hortezuela is currently detained at Borbon Police Station.
In Danao City, Dennis Pulvera, 38; Rosendo Barriga Jr., 40; and Rodel Ceniza, 32, were caught by the police allegedly during a drug session in an open hut in Juan Luna Street, Barangay Looc yesterday afternoon.
The police also seized from them three small sachets of suspected shabu, three strips of tin foil, two disposable lighters, and three improvised tooters.
Still up north, Mark Calinawan, 20, was handcuffed by the police for allegedly bringing with him one small pack of suspected shabu in Sitio Laray, Barangay Pitogo, Consolacion Thursday evening.
The police said Police Officer Alberto Jimenez was on beat patrol together with the barangay tanods when they noticed two on a black motorcycle acting suspiciously.
Jimenez and the tanods then approached the two men, one of whom was able to run away. Jimenez is currently detained at Consolacion Police Station.—USJ-R Masscomm Intern Xenia Maureen Arda/RHM (FREEMAN)
