CEBU, Philippines - Two died in separate road accidents in the towns of Moalboal and Balamban on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
An 84-year-old woman died after she was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the street in Barangay Tomonoy, Moalboal, Cebu Friday morning.
Vicenta Aquino got hit by a motorcycle driven by Weldy Tacoy, 26, who was headed to Barangay Balabagon, Moalboal from the town proper.
Aquino was rushed to the Moalboal Health Center and was transferred to the Badian District Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
Tacoy, who was detained at the Moalboal Police Station, was released after a settlement was agreed on with the victim’s family.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man died after his motorcycle crashed into another motorcycle at Sitio Combado, Barangay Cantuod, Balamban, Cebu Saturday early morning.
Gerdin Pilapil, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Asturias, was killed after the motorcycle he was driving collided with the motorcycle driven by Joey España, from Sitio San Miguel, Barangay Owak, Asturias.
Police investigation showed that Pilapil was travelling from Balamban to Asturias while España was driving towards the opposite direction.
