Man beheaded and mutilated
CEBU, Philippines - A headless and naked body of an unidentified man was found yesterday morning in Sitio Makatol, Barangay Biga, Toledo City.
Police Officer 3 Alfred Barquin, Don Andres Soriano police sub-station investigator, said it was past 7 a.m. yesterday when they received a report of the dead body and immediately responded to the alarm.
Initial investigation revealed that a certain Pauline Versaga was walking towards her house in the grassy potion of Sitio Makatol when she saw blood splatters and a blood trail in the area.
She followed the trail until she reached a shallow pit in a secluded area and was shocked when saw that a body had been dumped there. She immediately left and called the police.
Abarquin said the body was estimated to belong to a man 5’2” tall and around 30 to 40 years old. The only identifying mark on his body was a snake tattoo in his left side of his chest.
Aside from being beheaded, the victim had also been stabbed multiple times, castrated and his belly was slashed with his intestines spilling out. There was also a hole around an inch in diameter in his back
Police officers were still looking for the missing head and genital of the victim as of press time yesterday.
Abarquin said that the victim might have been killed at dawn because the blood around the area was still fresh when they arrived. The pit where the body was found was shallow, only three feet deep. There appeared to be no attempt to bury the body.
He added that two to three persons might be responsible for killing the person because of the manner of execution.
He also believes that the victim might have been involved in a relationship with a woman because he was castrated.
“Basi’g naay babaye ni, sir, kay giputlan man g’yud og kinatawo. Kay kung patay man (ang tuyo) gidunggab ra siguro,” said Abarquin.
Residents around the area did not recognize the body and believed that he might have just been dumped there. Abarquin said that they will have to wait for reports of missing person after the observance of All Souls’ Day. — /BRP (FREEMAN)
