P92T taken in separate heists

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – A total of P92,000 was carted away during separate heists in Cebu City and Argao town in just 24 hours.

In the city, two men atook away P22,000 from a branch of Alberto’s Pizza along Pelaez Street, Barangay San Antonio, Cebu City.

Gena Valencia, the cashier, said she and her co-employees could no longer do anything when the suspects demanded for their day’s proceeds, just barely five minutes after the patrolling members of the police passed by the establishment. Aside from the money, the suspects also took away the employees’ belongings.

Images captured by the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera showed the robbers’ faces. Theft and Robbery Section chief, Senior Insp. David Señor, said investigation is ongoing to arrest the suspects.

He said the robbers fled using a motorcycle. Personnel from the Motorcycle Riding Unit and Mobile Patrol Group reportedly tried to pursue the robbers but failed to intercept them.

Señor suspects that the prepetrators are the same ones who carried out a series of robberies last month.

Meanwhile, in Argao town, three men burglarized three offices in an establishment in Barangay Poblacion.

Inspector Alejandro Batobalonos said the burglars entered the establishment through the roof and destroyed the ceiling. They were able to get inside the offices of Racal Motorshop, Starbike and a lending company.

Batobalonos said the suspects took away P70,000 cash. Footage from CCTV camera from a nearby establishment showed three persons on a motorcycle arrived at the establishment at 3:15 a.m.

Batobalonos said it is possible that the three were responsible for the burglary. The theft was discovered only at 8:00 a.m. when the offices opened. – /JMO (FREEMAN)
