Chiong: ‘Let police probe it’

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - City of Naga Mayor Valdemar Chiong is leaving up to the police to investigate the alleged involvement of his brother-councilor in the operation of illegal gambling machines in the city.

Chiong assured that he will allow his brother, Councilor Boy Chiong, to face the consequences if proven that the allegations were true.

“Og kung mapamatud-an nga apil siya ana, aw, atubangon gyud na niya, naa may balaud,” the mayor said.

The mayor, however, said that the allegations had been there long before even during the administration of his elder brother, the late mayor Ferdinand Chiong.

Val explained that the issue keeps on resurfacing during election time.

“It has always been an issue ever since, any reports of such I directly relay it to police for proper action,” said Val in a text message to The Freeman.

Val said the issue is politically motivated because his brother is rumored to be running for vice mayor in 2016. —  (FREEMAN)
