2 fall in drug busts; P300T shabu seized
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Police arrested two suspected drug pushers and confiscated from them P300,000 worth of shabu in separate buy-bust operations in the city on Thursday.
One of the suspects was identified as Andrew Tad-y, 50, who has been accused of selling illegal drugs in the vicinity of a chapel near the nuns’ dormitory.
Operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) arrested Tad-y as soon as he handed over a pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to a poseur-buyer in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lahug at past 3 p.m.
The suspect further yielded three small packs and a medium-size pack of suspected shabu amounting to P50,000, three hand-rolled marijuana leaves, drug paraphernalia, the P200 buy-bust money, and P1,000 believed to be proceeds of his illegal drug sale.
Meanwhile, in the 8 p.m. buy-bust operation in Barangay Lorega-San Miguel, a man who was included on the police watchlist of drug personalities in Cebu City was arrested after he was seized with big packs of shabu worth P250,000.
The suspect was Allan Manal, 56, of Sitio Lower Lumar, Barangay Lorega-San Miguel, who is reportedly number 27 on the list of drug personalities in the city for this year.
Manal was apprehended after he sold a pack of shabu worth P10,000 to a police offi-cer who posed as a buyer.
Police frisked the suspect and further recovered from his possession four other huge packs of suspected shabu. The seized drugs amoun-ted to P250,000, accor-ding to the police.
The suspects were brought to Cebu City Police Office and are now detained while cases for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being prepared against them. — Bryner L. Diaz/NSA (FREEMAN)
