Woman mauled, tied by burglars

CEBU, Philippines - A woman was blindfolded and hogtied after she tried to fight four robbers who barged into her house and took at least P140,000 cash and belongings  Monday morning in Barangay Tayud, Liloan.

Apart from being stripped of her money and valuables, victim Jeanette Dabalos, 46, was injured all over her body after the robbers mauled her.

According to the investigation, Dabalos was sleeping in the living room when she was awakened by a noise inside the house at about past 3 a.m.

She then saw four unidentified persons, two of whom were bringing a gun and a knife.

The robbers approached her and she resisted but was eventually overpowered and mauled.

After beating her up, two of the robbers tied her hands and feet and covered her eyes with a piece of cloth.

The robbers carted away P7,500 cash, three gold rings, two pairs of shoes, three mobile phones, a laptop computer, digital camera, watch, ATM cards and credit cards all amounted to P140,500.

Before fleeing, the robbers left the victim at the comfort room.

The victim managed to untie herself minutes later and called for assistance.

Police Officer 2 Eric Pintoy said the burglars entered the house by destroying the window in the kitchen.

Investigation is underway to identify the culprits. — (FREEMAN)
