Woman believed to be struck by lightning died
CEBU, Philippines - A woman believed to have been struck by lightning was found dead at her flower garden in the mountain barangay of Babag early morning the other day.
The woman was identified as Angelita Mabini, 42, a resident of sitio Lamacan. Initial investigation revealed burn abrasions on the left side of her body.
Police also suspect that the tree under which Mabini’s body was found might have also been hit by lightning because it was broken. The body was found lying on its back.
PO1 Michael Angelo Singson said Mabini’s remains will be subjected to an autopsy to determine the real cause of death.
Mabini’s mother said she still went to the flower farm at around 3 p.m. two days ago despite the bad weather. It was reportedly raining heavily at that time and lightning could be seen.
The mother said they started to get worried when Mabini did not return home in the evening. She, together with her son, Edgar, and Mabini’s son, Giovanne then decided to go to the flower farm at around 4 a.m. yesterday and found the victim’s body lifeless.
SPO4 Alex Dacua, PO1 Michael Angelo Singson, PO1 John Errick Samosa and PO1 Reoful Adalim were the ones who responded to the alarm.
