Rama wants signs, numbered houses to guide all tourists
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama wants the city to be “tourist-friendly” before his second term ends in 2016.
To achieve this, he instructed the City Planning and Development Office to make several signage showing directions in strategic points of the city that leads to the different barangays. He also wants the houses to be numbered.
“It will really be a good front matter nga tan-awon sa mga tao and make Cebu City friendly to tourists,” he said.
The mayor has already identified the entry points in Barangays Talamban, Bulacao, Busay, among others. He said he wants these entry points to have markers that would lead to the different barangays on the city.
“There should be something that would show them kon asa ka and asa ka agi (where they are and where they should go),” he said.
Rama said that tourists could easily take a photo of the signage that would guide them to where they want to go.
He said that even before he was elected as city’s mayor, he was already determined to boost tourism in the city.
He said the city could set up a sign telling the public that they could use that particular road in going to certain barangays and showing the road networks going to those places.
For example, he said, not all people know that there is a road in Talamban leading to Busay, which not even all the city councilors know about.
As to the numbered houses, he said he wants the information available online.
“That should be put in place before my term ends and that all houses should be numbered already para makahibaw ka unsay number sa houses, and that all of these should be in the Internet,” he said.
He said more tourism-related projects in the city would also be implemented. (FREEMAN)
