PB authorizes Davide to donate lot to CPPO

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  The Cebu Provincial Board has authorized Governor Hilario Davide III to donate the 5,000-square-meter lot the province owns to the Cebu Provincial Police Office.

The authorization is embodied in a resolution, approved by the PB last Monday, which was authored by PB Member Grecilda "Gigi" Sanchez, committee chair on provincial and municipal properties.

The move came after Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac, CPPO director, made a request to Davide to allow them to occupy their headquarters permanently, in fear of getting evicted.

CPPO is occupying the province-owned lot in Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

During her term as governor, now third district Representative Gwendolyn Garcia allowed CPPO to use the property under a usufruct arrangement.

"CPPO officials cannot introduce improvements to the property because they were only occupants.  They cannot ask for funds from the PNP national headquarters as well because specific documents are needed," Sanchez said as quoted by the Cebu-PIO.

Once the deed of donation is approved and signed by Davide, CPPO can improve its headquarters.

"Cebu province finds the request meritorious and for the best interest of the parties," Sanchez said.

The agreement, however, has one condition, as suggested by PB Member Joven Mondigo Jr., that once CPPO will no longer use the donated property, it will be returned to the province.  (FREEMAN)
