Dad moves to hire 70 traffic enforcers
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Councilor Gerardo Carillo has proposed that the city hires 70 new traffic enforcers to help solve its growing traffic problem.
If Carillo’s proposal would be approved by the executive and legislative departments, the city would be spending P3.6 million for the salaries of the new traffic enforcers over a six-month period at P400 a day.
Currently, the City Traffic Operations Management has about 250 traffic enforcers, but CITOM operations officer Joy Tumulak said they still lack personnel to man all the major intersections of the city, particularly during peak hours.
Carillo, chairman of the City Council’s committee on traffic management, said there is a need to strengthen the maintenance of road users’ safety and orderliness and a proactive traffic control approach.
He said the existing number of personnel cannot fully and effectively carry out CITOM’s functions and duties. (FREEMAN)
