Man charged for death of 12-year-old boy
CEBU, Philippines - A man is facing a murder case before the Bogo City Prosecutor’s Office for allegedly killing a 12-year-old boy.
The Daanbantayan police yesterday filed a criminal complaint against Alberto Hermosa, 28, a relative of the victim, John David Diano.
During the inquest proceeding, Hermosa told prosecutor Samson Troy Layese that he will file a counter-affidavit to negate the allegations filed against him. He was given 10 days to file controverting evidence.
Diano, a Grade 8 student of Logon National High School, was reportedly found naked and dead by Heny Rosales, a barangay tanod, on August 26, 2014 at a grassy area in Sitio Cabatangan, Barangay Logon, Daanbantayan, Cebu.
Police said the victim’s hands and feet were hogtied when found. His shirt was reportedly used to tie his hands behind his back, his shorts were used to tie his feet, and his underwear was stuffed in his mouth.
The victim was missing for two days before he was found. He was last seen by his mother on August 24, 2014 when the child went out to throw garbage nearby. However, the child never returned home.
It was on August 27, 2014 when police took Hermosa into custody after he was identified positively by witnesses. (FREEMAN)
