CEBU, Philippines - After illegal drugs were found inside the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center last week, jail warden Romeo Manansala now wants K-9 units and additional closed-circuit television cameras inside the facility.
“We already requested Governor Davide nga butangan mi diri og K-9 units para additional security sa lugar,” said Manansala.
Manansala admitted that their present security measure is “not perfect” like the other jail facilities in the country, but with the help the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s K-9 units, he believes they will be able to secure CPDRC from illegal drug activities.
Manansala said they have CCTV cameras but only three are working while the rest are busted.
He said he has also made a request to the Capitol to replace the busted CCTV cameras so that CPDRC personnel can watch over the whole premises through captured footages.
CPDRC’s request for security augmentation came after two of its inmates were found to have stashed illegal drug paraphernalia into the facility last week.
Inmates Geno Pilapil and Alan Pilapil were said to have drug paraphernalia prompting the management to place them in isolation cells.
The visitation rights were also cut off for one day while the incident was investigated.
Manansala said the two inmates were already moved out of their isolation cells.
“Gi-review namo og balik ang security, if there are loopholes. Karon, gibalik na ang visiting rights pero gipahugtan na nato ang seguridad para dili nato mausab,” he said. (FREEMAN)
