CEBU, Philippines - A fraternity member was gunned down by two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle at past 11 am yesterday at V. Rama Avenue corner B. Rodriguez Street, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
Police are yet to identify the victim who is believed to be in his 20s, five feet to 5’1 tall, sporting a crew cut hair, wearing a black shirt marked “Fubu” and blue jeans, has dark complexion, and with tattoo in his arms.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his head, shoulders and chest, believed to have caused his immediate death.
Homicide investigators recovered five empty shells and one deformed slug of .45 cal. pistol from the crime scene. A cellular phone believed to be owned by the victim was also recovered.
The cellular phone contained messages warning the victim not to go and stay near the corner as government personnel were around.
Witnesses said the victim was standing near the corner of B. Rodriguez and seemed to be using his cellphone.
Minutes later, a motorcycle arrived and suddenly made a U-turn. The backrider shot the victim in his arm, causing him to fall to the ground.
As if not contented, the gunman disembarked from the motorcycle and shot the victim more in his chest and head.
Homicide investigators are eyeing the possibility that the victim is involved in illegal drug trade because of the messages retrieved from his cellular phone.
Police have not also ruled out the possibility on personal grudge with other fraternities considering that the victim is a member of the controversial Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho).
