South bus chief transferred to Capitol’s security office

CEBU, Philippines -  The administrator of the Cebu South Bus Terminal, who was relieved from his post over a ‘mauling’ complaint, has been reassigned as a member of the Capitol’s security office.

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III, who ordered the relief of former CSBT administrator Vicente Dejoras Jr., said that Dejoras has already been assisting the Capitol’s Chief of Security Loy Anthony Madrigal.

“But I also have a special assignment for him,” Davide told reporters, saying that Dejoras would also be reporting to the governor’s office. Davide, however, did not specify the ‘special task’ he would be assigning Dejoras.

Dejoras was preventively suspended from July 22 to July 31, pending the investigation over the complaint that he allegedly mauled an ‘illegal’ dispatcher identified as Glen Marc Alpuerto, 20, inside his office on July 18.

The Capitol’s Committee on Discipline and Investigation re-commended for the preventive suspension of Dejoras while investigation was ongoing.

Restituto Del Rosario Dosdos Jr., consultant on CSBT and Larsian operations, is currently the officer-in-charge of the terminal.

Davide said the preventive suspension against Dejoras extends a message that the Provincial Government does not tolerate erring Capitol employees.

“It’s a prerogative of the governor. That position he (Dejoras) was holding is a position of trust and confidence. We cannot  tolerate ingon ana. Atong employees who do good things, we recognize that. Kana pong masayop ato pod badlongon, we impose discipline also,” he added.

Dejoras admitted to Davide of using force when he reprimanded the dispatcher but denied that any “mauling” took place. Dejoras said that he punched the dispatcher one time.

Davide said though that the administrator should have avoided violent acts.

“The fact nga mosumbag ka’g tawo, that’s a no-no. You are a government functionary, that’s not part of your job description,” he said.

Meanwhile, in The Freeman’s article yesterday, Davide was quoted as saying that Dejoras “mishandled” the dispatcher when it should have been “manhandled.” —/ATO (FREEMAN)
