8 video karera machines seized in Brgy Ermita

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Eight more video karera machines were seized Saturday evening by the members of the Carbon Police Station in Barangay Ermita.

Chief Inspector Noel Lomente, Carbon police chief, ordered an intensive operation against gambling machines within his area of responsibility. Lomente ordered his men to conduct a saturation drive following reports that illegal gambling machines continue to operate in different sitios of Ermita despite the confiscation of 10 video karera and moli-moli machines last week.

PO3 Antonio Tejero said the latest haul came from sitio Bato and nearby sitios in Ermita.

Tejero said that Lomente is asking the public to cooperate in the campaign by reporting the presence of gambling machines in their area. According to Tejero, even anonymous information will be acted upon by them.

“Kung duna silay kasayoran kung asa ning dapita naay mga illegal, pwede ra mo-ari sila sa opisina og sila mismo ang motudlo,” Tejero said.

Ermita is one of the barangays in Cebu City where video karera operation is said to be rampant. In fact, 17 units of video karera were also recovered by the operatives of the City Intelligence Branch of Cebu City Police Office last month.

All 17 video karera machines were destroyed on the spot to send a strong message to the operators that the police are serious in the campaign. (FREEMAN)
