CSC gives LTO-Medellin excellent rate

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Office extension in Medellin, Cebu was given excellent rating by the Civil Service Commission in its report card survey for the first half of the year.

Of the 28 offices nationwide, Medellin and ano-ther awardee from Central Visayas region, the LTO District Office in the Pro-vince of Siquijor, were included in the findings of the latest nationwide survey the CSC conducts regularly among government offices and agencies providing frontline services in accordance with Section 5 of Republic Act 9485, otherwise known as the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA).

The LTO extension office in Medellin was rated 93.54 percent while Siquijor LTO DO was rated 90.72 percent.

For the period of January to June 2014, the CSC administered such survey on LTO district and extension offices nationwide and the 28 garnered excellent ratings.

Such rating is being given to a government agency which accumulates a Report Card Survey grade of at least 90 percent.

The Report Card Survey or the ARTA Watch is used to obtain feedback on how the agency follows its Citizen’s Charter, complies with ARTA provisions (which includes the no- noon break policy, no fixing activities, easy-to-read IDs or nameplates, and presence of public assistance and complaints desk) and fulfills customer satisfaction.

“This is unprecedented, and a testament to the leadership of the LTO and the commitment of its employees to deliver quality service to the public,” read the LTO statement.

The LTO officials attributed such improvement on the LTO DOs ratings to the streamlining of its processes.

Medellin Mayor Ricardo Ramirez has congratulated the personnel manning the LTO extension office in his town.

Cebu fourth district Representative Benhur Salimbangon, who is from Medellin, is eyeing on converting the said office into a regular district office by filing House Bill No. 2154.

Salimbangon said the LTO Extension Office in Medellin has been in existence for more than 10 years already, serving the City of Bogo and the municipalities of Medellin, Tabogon, Tabuelan, Daanbantayan, San Remigio, Bantayan, Madridejos and Santa Fe.

The nearest LTO District Office to Medellin is the one located in Danao City, which is approximately 70 kilometers away.

Salimbangon said the LTO EO in Medellin is conveniently located at Poblacion, which lot was donated by the municipal government.

“The conversion of the LTO Medellin Extension Office will ease the burden of the transacting public in the registration of their motor vehicles and in the application of driver’s license by providing an accessible, effective, efficient and conducive LTO District Office,” Salimbangon added. — (FREEMAN)
