CEBU, Philippines - A 41-year-old alleged drug pusher was arrested and seized with P50,000 worth of suspected shabu in Sitio Cañares, Barangay Lorega San Miguel, Cebu City yesterday morning.
Rey “Bayet” Aquino was arrested by Parian Police in his residence by virtue of search warrant issued by Judge Wilfredo Navarro of the Regional Trial Court Branch 19.
Recovered from the suspect were shabu placed in two large packs and three smaller packs and two other huge packs inside his bedroom.
Police further confiscated two folding pocket knives and nine cellular phones from the suspect’s house believed to have been snatched.
Chief Inspector Ryan Devaras, chief of Parian Police Station, said the suspect is known in Barangay Lorega as a drug peddler.
“Known ni siya nga pusher sa ilang area ug dako sab ang iyang market based sa nakuha nato nga information,” he said.
Devaras said Aquino was placed under two-week surveillance.
He said they will be checking with Theft and Robbery Section if the cellphones, believed to have been used by Aquino in his illegal drug transactions, matched with reported snatched items.
Aquino denied the accusations, saying that he used to repair cellphones that was why he had many of them.
The suspect is now detained temporarily at Parian Police detention cell and will face charges for violation of sections 5 (sale), 11 (possession) and 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Samuelle Joyrin C.
