Tanud-Tanud said that according to the girlfriend, the driver is going through a family problem and tried to commit suicide earlier this month by looping a rope on his neck. The driver is reportedly married and has a family.

Student kills self

Meanwhile, a 4th year college student of a known school in Cebu was found dead in Barangay Guadalupe around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Upon the initial investigation of the police, the 24-year-old was found hanging lifeless inside her room’s bathroom using a shoulder bag sling tied around her neck while the other end was attached to the window grills.

The student’s body reportedly showed no external injury except for the strangulation around her neck and discoloration of her skin and was already in the state of rigor mortis.

According to the victim’s mother, her daughter arrived at around 6 in the evening but she immediately went to her room.

The next day, the mother called the attention of her daughter to join them for lunch but she got no response.

Feeling nervous, she called her husband and asked him to open her daughter’s door and by the time that they were able to open it, they saw her body hanging.

Her parents immediately called the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation and the police for assistance.

The police are considering the student’s alleged argument with her boyfriend and failing grade in one of her subjects as the possible reason why she committed suicide.

Recovered from the student’s room was the handwritten suicide note asking for her parents’ forgiveness and the brown sling bag measuring 65 inches long. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
