CPDRC personnel cleared of drug use

CEBU, Philippines - All personnel of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) who underwent a surprise drug test were cleared by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

Joey Herrera, clarified, however, that one failed to urinate until 11:45 a.m. Thirty four personnel, including jail warden Romeo Manansala, underwent the test.

The surprise drug test was started by Governor Hilario Davide III at offices at the Capitol last March. A number of workers have been found positive of using illegal drugs like shabu and marijuana, the penalty of  which is dismissal from service.

Davide said the test is being undertaken to cleanse the provincial government of users of illegal drugs, considering that government workers are supposed to be role models.

Mayors of various towns have since implemented the surprise test in their localities. —/JMO (FREEMAN)
