Firm donates computers to Daanbantayan school

CEBU, Philippines - A total of 50 brand new computer units will now be available for the pupils of Daanbantayan Central School.

This after Innodata Inc., a leading provider of business process, technology and consulting services, formally turned over a computer laboratory to the school on Wednesday. 

Jack Abuhoff, Chief Executive Officer of Innodata Inc., spearheaded the turnover and spoke before more than 2,000 pupils with their parents.

Innodata Inc. has developed a client base services that include many of the world’s preeminent media, publishing and information services companies, as well as leading enterprises in information-intensive industries such as aerospace, defense, financial services, government, healthcare, high technology, insurance, intelligence, manufacturing and law.

The school principal, Rosa Cutab, expressed their gratitude to the company for the project and said that the pupils from Grade One to Six will now be trained in the basics of computers.

Innodata-Mandaue General Manager Imay Villa explained that they chose to conduct the project at Daanbantayan Central School since many of the company’s employees are from Daanbantayan town.

There are 1, 500 employees at Innodata-Mandaue.

Villa added that the P1 million-worth project was completed in a span of six weeks with the help of the employees.

Grade-6 pupils Aira Karyll Rufino and Anne Dimple Dela Torre expressed their thanks to Innodata.

“I’m very happy kay makabalo na gyod mi unsaon paggamit sa computer aside sa pag-Facebook lang,” Rufino said.

“Karon ra gyod mi nakaingon-ani. Makatabang gyod ni kaayo sa among pagtuon,” Dela Torre added.

Together with Abuhoff, Innodata Chief Operating Officer Ashok Kumar Mishra also graced the event where he joined the pupils in a dance.

Before the ribbon-cutting last Wednesday, a mass feeding was also conducted by Innodata.  (FREEMAN)
