Barangays to receive monobloc chairs

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Councilor Eugenio Gabuya Jr. is set to purchase at least 900 monobloc chairs to be distributed to south district barangays.

This after the City Council approved on Wednesday the P498,760 amount Gabuya requested for the procurement of the chairs the barangays need.

A number of barangays in the city need chairs for the comfort and convenience of the residents, particularly the elderly and other needy and disadvantaged members, said Gabuya.

The items will be distributed to the barangay halls and will be used during the barangay’s acti-vities.

“To entice participation and to make members enthusiastic in attending activities, they must be made comfortable during every activity,” said Gabuya in his proposed resolution.

With the availability of the chairs, residents will be enticed to join and stay until the activity ends, added Gabuya.

Mountain barangays will also receive the items, he said.

The south district councilor said that his office will purchase the monobloc chairs as soon as the City Treasurer’s Office release the fund.

The amount has been charged to the City’s Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation  funds.

Gabuya said they hope to buy more than 900 chairs.

The barangays hope that the items will be distributed properly and fairly.  (FREEMAN)
