CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Trade and Industry-7 is appealing for business companies, especially those sells school supplies, to join a two-day Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan in Dalaguete, Cebu on May 30 and 31.
“So far, ang ni-commit nga moapil sa caravan kay 11 companies pa. We hope nga daghan pa unta ang moapil nga mga (we would be joined by more) companies,†said Zaide Bati-on, DTI-Cebu Province Consumer Welfare Division chief.
Specifically, the caravan will be in Barangay Caleriohan on May 30 and in Barangay Poblacion the following day.
Bati-on said they choose Dalaguete town because of the local government unit’s strong support of the program and based on previous experience, when sale was brisk.
Those who committed to participate include the National Bookstore, Prince Warehouse, Artifacts Innovation in Motion, Unitop, and Virginia Foods.
The National Food Authority-7 would also sell rice to residents during the caravan.
Bati-on said that school supplies would be sold at discounted prices or at factory prices.
Wholesalers and retailers can also purchase school supplies and household items during the two-day event.
The DTI has been staging ca-ravans in Cebu for several years, already, having held it in Bogo City and the towns of Daanbantayan and Consolacion.
“This is one way of the government nga makatabang sa katawhan nga makapalit og mga (to help the people buy) school supplies sa ubos nga presyo (at lower prices),†Bati-on said.— (FREEMAN)
