Man stabbed after beating up wife

CEBU, Philippines - A man landed in the hospital after he was hacked by an unidentified person after he allegedly mauled his wife in Sitio Upper Banika, Lahug, Cebu City past midnight yesterday.

Investigation revealed that Anatalio Estrada, 50, arrived home drunk and, without any reason, allegedly slapped his wife Rosalina, 48, who was outside their house at that time.

Out of fear, Rosalina ran toward a dark area but Anatalio ran after her and, when he caught up with her, started punching her.

An identified man reportedly interfered and shouted, “unsa na (what’s going on)?”

This reportedly distracted Anatalio and gave Rosalina a chance to run away.

A few minutes later, Rosalina returned to where she left Anatalio and found her husband already wounded at the back of his head. Anatalio was rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and is now stable.

Meanwhile, another man landed in the hospital after he was shot by an unidentified person outside an internet shop in Cebu City past 1 a.m. yesterday.

Investigation showed that the victim, Edcel Borgonia, was sitting on the stairs outside the café when the suspect arrived and shot him twice, hitting him on the upper part of his chest. The suspect reportedly wore a black jacket.

Borgonia was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center in time. Police recovered a slug from a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.  (FREEMAN)
