Milling firm dispute settled; strike looms in mining company

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board-7 recently settled the labor dispute between the Bogo-Medellin Milling Co., Inc. management and its workers.

There is, however, another problem coming for the body, after the Panaghiusa sa Mamumuo sa Carmen Copper Corporation-Alliance of Genuine Labor Organization  in Toledo City refiled its notice of Toledo City last April 8.

The union has withdrawn its notice of strike last February 26 amidst settlement of some issues, but decided to refile it after the management allegedly committed more serious violations under their collective bargaining agreement.

The CCC management, however, denied all allegations by PMCCC-AGLO.

In the Bogo-Medellin Milling Co., Inc. dispute, both management and the labor union representing the workers have agreed to settle their differences, which in effect lifted the Bogo-Medellin Milling Co., Inc. Employees Union’s notice of strike filed Dec. 5, 2013.

The Associated Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines affiliated union, which has 207 members, earlier accused the management of unfair labor practice, specifically on the refusal to bargain and on the contracting out of services normally performed by union members.   (FREEMAN)
