Fil-Chinese volunteers give firefighting gear
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Filipino Chinese Volunteers Fire Brigade has turned over yesterday some firefighting equipment to the Cebu City Command Control Center.
These include fire jackets, fireman's boots and trousers and 10 brand new helmets and boots.
"Some of these donated actually came from Canada and it was intended for the Chinese Fire Brigade. Extra naman namo so we are giving it to them," said CFCVFB Fire Marshall Wilton Uykingtian.
The CFCVFB also returned three fire trucks which the Cebu City government had donated to it years back.
Alvin Santillana, operations chief officer of the Cebu City Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the returned fire trucks are still in good running condition.
The CFCVFB has also trained more than 20 trainees and personnel to man the fire trucks.
"Ang training in collaboration sa paghatag nila sa firetrucks," Santillana said.
According to Uykingtian, they are supporting the fire brigades and reminded them to take care of the donated equipment.
"Take care of the things that we donated. We hope we could donate some more and we will work hand in hand during emergencies, not just fire," Uykingtian said. — (FREEMAN)
