CEBU, Philippines - Two foreign nationals were hurt after their vehicles collided Friday morning on a national highway in Barangay Poblacion, Alcantara, Cebu.

Australian national Nickolas Xantos, 63, was hurt when his Suzuki pick-up multicab was bumped by a Honda motorcycle driven by the German Erwin Bleinagel, 72.

Initial investigation disclosed that the overspeeding motorcycle heading north tried to overtake a tricycle and accidentally hit the Suzuki multicab at the center lane of the road.

Xantos sustained minor injury on his forehead, while Bleinagel suffered minor injuries in different parts of his body. Both were rushed to Alcantara Municipal Health Center, but Bleinagel was advised to be admitted at Badian District Hospital.

It was identified by the attending police personnel that Bleinagel’s non-professional driver’s license had already expired on November 6, 2013.

Bleinagel was apprehended for violating Alcatara’s municipal ordinances; for driving without proper driver’s license; for driving with invalid or suspended/revoked/expired driver’s license, no helmet, and for reckless driving.

Meanwhile, the Suzuki multicab with plate number MFV-447 damaged its battery, left side door and window upon the clash while the motorcycle sustained minor damage on its front wheel.

Vehicles involved in the accident were impounded temporarily at Alcantara Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charges in court.

Alcantara Police Station deployed PO3 Ludevico Dever, PO2 Glendale Cabañero and PO1 Angelbert Orbeta to respond to the alarm.  (FREEMAN)
