Patrons try to rescue drug pusher
CEBU, Philippines - Several people reportedly tried to rescue a level-two drug pusher who was arrested in a buy-bust operation along Urot Street, Mabolo, Cebu City Thursday afternoon.
Manny Flores, 33, a barangay garbage collector, was apprehended by operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Flores was arrested around 5:10 p.m. after receiving the P200 marked money from a police poseur-buyer in exchange of a small pack of shabu.
Also confiscated from Flores were a big pack and 16 small packs of suspected shabu and P550 cash believed to be proceeds from his illegal activities.
The drugs were estimated to have a street value of P50,000.
CAIDSOTG chief, Senior Inspector Eunil Avergonzado, said they have received information that Flores is engaged in selling illegal drug activities.
While doing the marking of the seized evidence, Avergonzado said several people tried to rescue Flores.
This prompted them to pull out from the area and proceeded to Mabolo Police Station with the suspect.
Flores will face charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
The recovered items were brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis. —/GMR (FREEMAN)
