Consolacion, Badian stations lauded for drug operations

CEBU, Philippines - Two police stations were commended by the Cebu Provincial Police Office for their serious campaign against illegal drugs in their respective jurisdictions.

The police of Consolacion and Badian were lauded for their dedication to their duties worthy of emulation by others, which brings honor not only to the CPPO but also to the Philippine National Police organization.

Early this month, Consolacion police, led by their police chief, Senior Inspector Frank Oriol, arrested Armando Pepito of Barangay Tayud. His arrest was by virtue of an arrest warrant for Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or violation of Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The warrant was issued by Judge Estella Alma Singco of Regional Trial Court Branch 55 in Mandaue City.

Pepito is tagged as one of the top five most wanted persons in the town.

Meanwhile, Badian police recently uprooted at least 2,000 fully-grown marijuana plants in the mountain barangay of Basiao.

Inspector Henry Orbiso, Badian police chief, could not give an estimate on the value of the uprooted plants as some of those were burned in the area.

Police said they found it hard to bring all the uprooted plants in the lowland area.

Reports of the alleged marijuana plantation led to surveillance before the operation was carried out.

Some of the marijuana plants were taken to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory-7 for chemical analysis.

The operation of the police was even extended for about a kilometer-radius.

CPPO Director Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac hopes that the performance of both stations will serve as a model for other police stations.  (FREEMAN)
